Years ago, SAWYER Agency collaborated with designer and lettering artist Jessica Hische to create a striking visual campaign for the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) titled Dear President Obama and Other World Leaders: The Oceans Are Dying. The piece was designed to raise awareness about ocean acidification and the urgent threat that air pollution poses to marine ecosystems worldwide.

Our role included collaborating closely with Jessica to translate complex scientific data into a clear, visually engaging design. The poster balances impactful typography, illustrative storytelling, and attention-grabbing color to communicate the severity of the issue while remaining approachable and memorable.

Even years later, the design continues to hold up. Its illustrative style, layered messaging, and cohesive visual hierarchy showcase the lasting power of thoughtful design in environmental advocacy. This project remains a favorite in our portfolio, exemplifying how strong design can amplify urgent messages and engage audiences effectively.
